David Freeman works as a writer in films and videogames, and is an acclaimed international speaker and teacher. As a screenwriter, David has sold scripts to Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Columbia Pictures, MGM, and others.

David  teaches “Beyond Structure,” the largest screenwriting class in Los Angeles, New York and London.

Many top screenwriters, directors, and Hollywood executives have been his students, along with numerous senior game designers and executives. He has contributed to many high-profile games such as Crysis 2 (upcoming), Tron: Evolution (upcoming), Prey, Need for Speed: Carbon, Terminator: Redemption, Marc Ecko’s Getting Up, Enter the Matrix, and many others.

He has worked on games for Activision, Sony, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Take 2 Interactive, Disney Interactive, 3D Realms, Atari, and others. David is the author of the influential book, Creating Emotion in Games, which is used as a textbook at Carnegie Mellon and other universities. He is a sought-after international speaker, teaching at film, animation, and videogame conferences around the world –– at game publishers across North America and Europe –– and at film and television companies like Pixar, Disney, Aardman Animations, and others.
