Jane Hu works in traditional media, digital media, and music. She currently heads up programming strategy for YouTube Next Lab, focusing on channel development and best practices for YouTube content.
Prior to YouTube, Jane split her time between California and London, advising companies on their digital media and monetization strategies. Clients included: Reveille, TubeMogul, and Electus on the video side and Interscope, Sony, and Songkick on the music side.
Before that, Jane helped found and headed up the business side of Vuguru, the new media studio incubated within former Disney CEO Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company. At Vuguru, Jane executive produced Emmy-nominated Internet TV shows, combining quality scripted content with innovative monetization and distribution. Prior to Vuguru, Jane was the second employee at Tornante, investing in and consulting for early stage media companies. Prior to that, Jane worked in Corporate Strategic Planning at Disney, focusing in emerging media (broadband, wireless, and video games).
In 2008, Jane was named one of Advertising Age Magazine’s Women to Watch.
She has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an M.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University.
