Robert J. Spencer

    Founder of several Australian game studios, Robert J. Spencer (aka Rj) is a game industry veteran with a wide range of strategic, sales and business development experience.

    Robert is currently interested in Sports games, iPhone and Game Technology/Digital Infrastructure, Robert is shepherding a trio of Australian studios: Spinfast, Staring Man and Binary Culture. Robert also founded Interzone, currently working on a massive online Soccer MMO, to be released in 2010.
    Robert has a long association with online game development, starting with a groundbreaking prototype entitled Red Martian Blues in 1994.  As Strategic Business Manager of BigWorld, he helped build a small Australian MMO technology company into the de facto standard MMO middleware, technology that he later went on to use at Interzone. Robert has also launched and published three high quality computer games magazines and accompanying websites, including Australian PC Gamer and PC Games Plus, a title simultaneously published in the US, UK, Australia and Canada.
    Robert was once crowned Cyber World Leader by Anthill magazine. He is also Chairman of the International Game Developers Association's Perth Chapter, an adjunct Professor at Murdoch University, Chairman of the Nullarbor games competition, and sits on several advisory boards including WA's Innovation Advisory Panel and Technology & Industry Advisory Council ICT Sub-Committee.
