12.09.2009 XML Beijing: Serious Games December 17-18th
The Serious Games industry in China is going to be simply vast.
So XML is proud of our role in bringing about the first international Serious Games event in Beijing in partnership with China’s most famous Tech Park, Zhongguancun, and most famous university, Tsinghua.
If you are interested in making connections with the Serious Games or Creative Industries community in China, the Haidian Hi-Tech District, or the Zhongguancun Tech Park (they are opening a new zone in 2010), then you won’t walk into a more high-powered room than XML Beijing.
Here’s a very short list of some of the many VIP’s attending:
Vice Minister of Beijing Municipal Committee; Director of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park; Head of Zhongguancun International Cooperation Branch; Director of Industry Planning Office of Zhongguancun Haidian District; Founder of Zhongguancun Digital Entertainment Industry Association and Zhongguancun High-tech Enterprises Association; General Manager of the Qingdao Animation and Game Industry Incubator; Co-Founder of the Professional Game Design Association; Chairman of Zhongguancun Investment and Financing Union; and Director of the Zhongguancun Venture Capital Office; Chairman of Beijing Zhonghanchuangyi Animation and Games Industry Incubator; Managing Director of Beijing Zhonghai Investment Company; Director of Beijing Institute of New Media Research Center; Director of the China Creative Industries Research Center; and the Head of the Cultural Creative Industries Research Centre (Zhejiang)
Plus there will be international Serious Games Mentors from the US, Singapore, and Australia.
China’s very first ‘Serious Games Research Institute’ will be announced at the Lab and XML has been invited to be the Vice President of the International Advisory Board and source its members.
It’s fitting for us to finish 2009 with a Lab in Beijing. In the past 12 months XML has made keynote addresses at Creative Industries events at various Technology Parks on many occasions in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as in Suzhou, Xi’an, Zhongshan, Foshan, Shijiazhuang, Qingdao, Huangzhou, Wuhu, Wuxi, Hong Kong, and Shenyang.
We have begun to acquire really influential relationships and intend to develop high-value events to connect them to the international XML network in the years to come. As always, it’s a great pleasure and learning experience for us to be doing so much in China at these most exciting times.
Hope to see you there sometime soon ….
