Henrik Byström is the Chair of P1.CN - China's exclusive social network for exceptional people.  By invitation only, the site caters to about 5% of China's population - the ultra cool emerging middle class, the tastemakers.  Currently the site as 1.7 million members and is experiencing very rapid growth. Henrik brings over 30 years of International business experience to P1.cn (and XML Sweden!) and he is an internationally recognised expert on doing buisness in Asia.

What do you think Location Based Services and position technology will bring to the world within 10 years?

A profound change in socializing and managing life style. Many technologies known today will be widely used and part of everyday life for a large part of the global population. We will see where our friends are at all times. It will lead to segmentation, or circles, in SNS and communication.When we go out for lunch we will see where our colleagues are and how they like the place. When we go out for a drink we check out a different circle of people. When we travel we will see where the attractions are and how they are rated by our friends and how crowded the place is. Transportation alternatives from where we are to where we want to go will be easy to find and time based. The concept guiding us will shift to location and time and not the service per se. If I visit a city Tuesday to Thursday I have no interest in knowing what performances the theaters have over the week end. So location and time will be combined. In the car I will see good lunch deals coming up near the high way only around lunch time. The level of sophistication in all these services will be completely different and tailored to our needs. The impact on marketing will shift from general reach to targeted with much greater sophistication. Technology will bring localisation as a standard feature to many new products. The commercial implications are obvious but also safety and security will be greatly enhanced. The exact location of an accident will be immediately known as vehicles will be equipped with such technology. For those who suffer from certain illness they will just push a location based alarm and a rescue service will be immediately alerted on where they are. Stolen goods will be easier to locate.

Sweden was recently nominated the most creative country in the world. What have you seen come out of Sweden that indicates that?

Just check Wikipedia for Swedish inventions and you will see an amazing list for such a small country. Recent Swedish inventions in the IT field include Bluetoth, Spotify, Skype, colour graphics, STDMA (crucial in modern air traffic control). In other areas I can mention the Gambro artificial kidney and the Gamma Knife that revolutionized brain surgery.
